Chippewa Township is located in the county of Mecosta, in the Central Michigan area of the Lower Peninsula. It is roughly an hour north of Grand Rapids and 45 minutes west of Mount Pleasant. The township is both a rural agricultural and recreational community. Chippewa Township is the home of Chippewa Lake, the largest natural lake in Mecosta County. From boating to swimming to fishing to snowmobiling, all-sport Chippewa Lake has plenty to offer locals and visitors, year ‘round. If you are a fan of small lakeside towns and lots of open country, Chippewa Township is waiting for you!

UPDATE March 23, 2020
The health and safety of our community is Chippewa Township’s top priority. We are taking the current spread of COVID-19 very seriously. Though no confirmed cases of the virus have been reported in Mecosta County, there have been cases in our neighboring Counties. Township leaders are following the advice and recommendations of state and federal officials to take action now.
As of today, March 23, 2020, the Chippewa Township Offices will be working on limited hours to perform only essential duties. We will be open from 9 a.m. – noon Monday through Thursday, with NO person to person contact. We ask that if you are making a payment, that you use the drop box located to the right of the entry door, and we will mail you a receipt.
As always, if you have a Sewer emergency please call the Sewer Department at 231-867-3616.
